For dentists, physios, psychologists, chiros, osteos, podiatrists and vets

Before they book, people want to know who'll look after them.

They look for names, faces, qualifications, booking and fees. I set those up on your website and Google listing, and I know the AHPRA advertising rules, and I point out anything on your site that looks like it clashes with them. The final say on your advertising is always yours.

What your patients judge you on

Patients' reviews of clinics and vets keep landing on the same three things.

Who'll look after them

People often name the practitioner who treated them, and write about how they were cared for. So I look first at whether your site shows each practitioner, with a photo and their qualifications.

Booking that works

Booking problems are the most common complaint in this group, in almost one in four bad reviews. So I check that "Book an appointment" works from Google and from your site, and lands on a real time.

Fees made clear

People want to know the fee, the gap and any health fund or Medicare rebate before they book. AHPRA also says unclear or vague price information in advertising may breach the rules.

What the audit checks for you

For a clinic, these lead the audit, and a few checks work differently because of AHPRA:

  • Each practitioner named on your site, with a photo and accurate qualifications.
  • Whether "Book an appointment" works from your Google listing and your site, and reaches a real time.
  • Whether your fees, gaps and rebates are easy to find.
  • An advertising check of your site: no testimonials, offers that state their terms, and no "specialist" wording unless someone holds specialist registration.
  • One Google listing for the practice, kept separate from each practitioner's own.
  • Hours: if you only see people by appointment, Google says you can leave hours off, so that isn't marked down.
  • Your reviews, compared only with nearby clinics of the same kind, and never set as a number to chase.

The rules for your profession, done right

  • No testimonials on your own site. AHPRA's rules ban testimonials in advertising a health service. That's why I don't put patient stories, review widgets or Google review feeds on a clinic's website or its own social pages.
  • I won't suggest adding them. If there are any on your site already, the audit points them out so you can take them down.
  • Reviews on Google. AHPRA says you don't have to remove reviews on sites you don't control. Replying needs care, though. AHPRA says practitioners should "take care if they choose to engage with reviews on a third-party site".
  • If you want replies, I draft them and you check each one, because AHPRA asks practitioners to take care with any reply.
  • Offers. Any offer, like a free first visit or a discount, has to state its terms and conditions. AHPRA notes that people take "free" to mean absolutely free.
  • Titles and qualifications. "Specialist" and "specialises in" are only for practitioners with specialist registration. Accurate, factual qualifications and memberships are fine to show, and I put them on your people page.
  • No promised results. Nothing on your site suggests a treatment will work, because AHPRA says advertising mustn't create an unreasonable expectation of beneficial treatment.
  • Vets. AHPRA doesn't regulate vets. I haven't been able to read the NSW vet board's own rules yet, so for a vet I check those before saying anything about reviews.

I don't have a clinic as a client yet, so here's a sample audit for a made-up physio clinic. It follows the same AHPRA rules yours would, so you can see what I'd point out and what I'd leave alone.

What it costs

Setup is $400 to $800, then $200 a month.

Your audit shows which one fits, and I'll tell you why.

  • Tune-up, $400. Your website is fine, but your Google listing isn't.
  • Fix-up, $500. Your website works, but needs real work.
  • Full build, $800. You have no website, or one you can't control.

All three include your Google listing fully filled in, help with replies to your Google reviews (only if you want it, and you check each one before it goes up), and your details matching everywhere you're listed.

The $200 a month starts a month after setup. It covers the audit each month, your website kept up to date, a new post from photos you send me, small changes (up to about an hour), and a short report with a 10-minute call if you'd like one.

  • No lock-in and no fee to cancel, so you can stop any month.
  • You own everything, and there's no GST to add.
  • You and a friend each get a free month. A friend sent you? Tell me who.

Questions practice owners ask me

Can we show our Google reviews on our website?

Not under AHPRA's rules. AHPRA says a review on your own site that talks about someone's care can count as a testimonial, so the safe place for reviews is Google. They can stay on Google, where people already read them.

Do you promise results?

No, and I won't. What I can do is make it easy for someone to see who'll treat them, what it'll cost and how to book. Anything that touches the advertising rules, you check before it goes up.

We already use Cliniko or HealthEngine.

Good, keep it. I link your Google listing and your website straight to it, so "Book" lands on a real time.

Does each practitioner need their own Google listing?

Google says the practice should have its own listing, separate from each practitioner's. The audit checks you've got one for the practice and no doubles.

I'm a groomer, tutor or driving school. Is this page for me?

Mostly, yes. Your customers judge you on the same three things: the person, booking and fees. The AHPRA rules on this page are only for registered health practitioners, so they don't apply to you.

If you'd like a free audit, text me your practice's name. It also points out anything on your site that looks like it clashes with the AHPRA advertising rules.
